#Respect

Modified on Sun, 1 Dec at 10:18 PM

The NSWRL #Respect program focuses on developing and implementing positive cultures within our community rugby league clubs.

NSWRL works with Clubs to build resources to identify what your Club Culture is, along with your expectations of behaviour from your members, and also provide you with the tools to communicate those expectations to their members.

Positive cultures at Clubs allow a healthier and more inclusive game day experience for all of your participants and contribute to increased retention rates at Clubs and higher rates of volunteer engagement in our communities.

Club Culture Resources

NSWRL League and Club Support Coordinators will be available to work with Clubs if required to develop a structure for your Club Culture by identifying Aims and Goals for the Club, Club Coaching Philosophies and Internal Disciplinary Procedures.

We will also provide Clubs with resources and templates that can be modified and personalised so that you can communicate your specific standards and expectations to your members.

#Respect Round

All Clubs, teams and match officials will be asked to participate in game day protocols where we ask team captains and match officials to meet in the middle of the field before each game and shake hands as a show of #Respect.

Clubs are asked to post photos to their social media accounts with the hashtags #NSWRL #Respect #LetThemPlay #CommunityRugbyLeague.

NSWRL will also distribute videos, audio files and social media tiles to Clubs to share during #Respect Round.

NSWRL #Respect Award

NSWRL will be asking Clubs to submit a short video to outline how you build and foster a healthy Club Culture within your communities. We will ask you to tell us, and show us, how your Club has created a positive culture that provides safe and inclusive environments for your members.

The Club with the best submission will be awarded a $2000 Steeden Voucher to allow them to purchase gear for their Club, along with being presented with the NSWRL #Respect Award.

We hope clubs will take this opportunity to develop a strong framework that will deliver an improved culture at your club. This will in turn allow us, as a game, to provide a better game day experience for all of our participants.

We also look forward to participation in the #Respect Round game day protocols which will reinforce our message of #Respect for all participants in the game.
